REAL TECHNIQUES. BOLD METALS

A few weeks ago I came across Gemma London Life's twitter competition to win the Real Techniques Bold Metals eyeshadow brushes. This collection of brushes has been on my wish list for months so I couldn't resist entering. Now, I never win anything so it came as a shock to me when I got a message from the lovely Gemma of This London Life to say I had won!!!! The three brushes sent to me from Real Techniques were the 200 Oval Shadow, 201 Pointed Crease & the 202 Angled Liner brush shown below. I am not a beauty expert or professional but I thought I would share my thoughts with you.

200 Oval Shadow
The oval shadow brush is for all over lid application/blending of cream & powder shadows. I love this brush as it is super soft and creates a soft, blended finish perfect for base shadow application. As with all the Real Techniques Bold Metal brushes the handles are weighted to allow them to sit perfectly balanced in your hand, I do find that this makes them easier to control. All the brushes in this collection have pale coloured bristles making them look unusual & luxurious, I also find them practical. It is easy to see how much product you have on the brush & when cleansing the brushes (I use MAC Brush Cleanser) I find it easier to see when they are clean compared to other darker bristle brushes.

201 Pointed Crease
This is a densely packed brush designed to apply shadow & a smoky eye to the eye lid crease. My first impression of this brush was it must be too large to be a crease brush & I was convinced I would get the eyeshadow all over my lid however I couldn't have been more wrong. This is a fantastic brush & a must have if you want to create a professional eyeshadow look. Just load the brush with a darker shade to your base colour & apply to the outer corner of your eye & crease. The application of this brush is perfect, the bristles are cut into a point which does the blending for you. This is a great brush to build your eyeshadow up to create an easy, quick smoky eye.

202 Angled Liner
The 202 is a small firm slanted brush designed to apply shadows close to the lash line. It is a perfect brush for me as I don't really wear liquid/gel liner, I find it too heavy on my eyes however I do want a stronger shade near my lash line & under my bottom lashes. This is perfect for applying more intense, darker shadows to the lash line because of its small, slanted shape it creates a precise line. The angled liner brush can also be used with gel eyeliner or as a brow brush so it is a great versatile brush to have in your makeup kit.

The Bold Metals collection is fantastic, great luxurious brushes at a realistic price. They are so easy to use giving a flawless application. There are more brushes in the collection including a blusher, flat contour, foundation & powder brush. All of which have been added to my makeup wishlist. If you want to buy these brushes Boots currently have them on offer so check them out!

A massive Thankyou to Gemma of This London Life and Real Techniques for these beautiful brushes! It is worth entering those competitions, you never know what you might win!
